Hi,

Seicento Sporting Kit 1.

I've just had a conversation with someone who says they have one and the 'kit' was fitted to mk1 Abarths and consists of a lower final ratio and enlarged throttle body, amongst other things

There were apparently around 100 of these imported to UK and are even mentioned in the specs section of the mk1 handbook.

I'm doubtful myself

But has anyone heard of these? :yum:

Yeh it's just, apparently, they are mentioned in original handbook alongside all the other models

Does anyone have a circa 1999 handbook they can check?

The early 98 handbook only describes an optional 14 inch kit of 5 wheels, spacers and studs it recommended dealer fit, I realise you said 99 but,

So some of Seis will have had 14s from 98 on and two sets of wheels e.g. as snow chains were forbidden for the 14s.

No mention of final drive or TBs for 14s.

Its a load of b******s. The only changes were the gearbox on the sports pack option and the introduction on the 2000 on model as Mpi with larger TB.

Yeh i think it is wishful thinking on the owner's behalf

why would 14" wheels need a longer ratio, surely a shorter one is better to compenstae for the larger rolling radius

Anyway. he's a nice chap and wants to buy some things from me, so cool!

I'm assuming he's referring to a Sporting over an S or SX...shorter gearing for a bit more acceleration I believe, with the MPi Abarths getting their own box to counter the difference in wheel size. You know all this already though ;)

Some of the factory built SPI Abarths had the low ratio box towards the end of SPI production. Mine included. :)

the 14 inch wheel option in 98 was termed the "sporty" kit by fiat in the owners handbook

from a commercial Fiat view a premium price for different wheels and Gbox final would have been nice some take up might have resulted in an Abarth rebadge...

Some one must have Fiat marketing glossies from period even if they are in Polish?

Not sure if this is relevant or even if described correctly but I found this a while ago while searching for a seicento club just after I bought mine.
the quote below is taken directly from "The Sporting Fiats Club" website about 3/4 of the way down the page

"Seicento Sporting Kit
Fiat had been slow to respond to the demand for tuning kits with the Cinq. They made up for this with the Seicento. The factory offered a Trofeo rally car derived kit for the Sporting. The Seicento Sporting Tuning Kit was undoubtedly the most potent of Fiat’s several tuning packages. With the engine capacity increased marginally to 1146cc and the use of four 38mm throttle bodies, it produced 128bhp @ 7,800rpm. With Uno Turbo ventilated front discs and 227mm solid discs at the rear it also stopped better. The suspension was fully rose-jointed, with a limited slip diff, six-speed gearbox and all up weight of only 810kg. The kit cost 29000 Euro (in 2002). Perhaps the six speed box and lsd is a little excessive for a road car.
