Another little update. I still have the car in storage with the full intention of re-shelling it over the summer.

The incident i was involved in when crashing the car has been to court and dealt with. I was charged with driving without insurance and also driving without due care. I pleaded guilty to both and received 8 points (meaning my licence has been revoked) and a fine of £100.

Not as bad as i expected. On the up side i wont be going anywhere so will have plenty of time to work on the car while i try and pass my test again . Also the fine wasn't as hefty as expected so means more money on the car :p

surprised at the fine too

i look forward to seeing this car up and running again.
i kno someone who met the previous owner in it, said it was a little monster and wishes all the best for getting it fixed, and good luck taking on such a big project :)

cov69 might remember him actually,
met at one of the tracks days, he has a 1.4 Uno turbo in grey? ;)

It was Cov69 that built the car.

Much as I hate to admit it but I've been there although in my defence I did arrange insurance before driving the car, just didn't check that they had actually done it (insurance started 2 days after I called the insurer and 2 days after I started driving it).

If the engine bay of your car has been strengthened then the crumple zone will have failed and the energy of the impact will have been transferred to the rest of the shell - there will be unexpected creases and snapped bolts all over the place.

I crashed my sei a few years ago at all of 15mph after sliding on oil and it showed similar damage. The repair bill came to £3000 once all the broken bits of suspension and bodywork were either replaced or strengthened. A good £800 of that was the recovery costs though and at least as much again for storage. The cost of reshelling was more than the repair though as the shell has lots of small modifications throughout (like reinforced sills).

fingers crossed with this, like i said all them months ago, any help needed give me a shout!! if you plan on not bothering doing it, il buy the drive shafts off you incase i get itchy palms down the line :p

Personally iv only ever seen two. The one i bought from Cov69 and there is a cinquecento with a C20XE in poland i believe.

that is some **** luck... i recognise that junction (dont know if its the one in hinkley town centre) if it was that one YEAH its a CNUT ive had close calls there and it was only because at the time i was on my bike (Bandit 600) i managed to get out of the way quick enough. i feel for ya man altho u were a dick for driving without insurance you seem to have a suitable punishment so 6 of 1 and half a dozen of the other... i **** myself when ol bill follow me when im legal cant imagine how u felt man... hope they didnt treat you too bad. imo west mids police tend to treat you as guilty before they get there i am yet to meet a 'sound copper'

It took some balls to come here and explain what happened, I don’t know you so cant comment in person but you took a chance and got caught.

What’s important now is how you learn from the error of your ways. You went to court and took what was yours, your not the first and will deffo not be the last.

Its very easy to be judgemental but how many of the members here speed EVERY single day, or drive to work the morning after a skin full ?

I only deal with Internet based Insurance companies, I have Ebike for my bikes and they have 24/7 access to change / add / update your policies.

A salutary lesson to us all

I suspect a lesson learned

Hi, No not started it yet. Just recently moved it from where it was being stored and been weighing up my options.

Iv found out that once i re-pass my test the 8 points i have will still be on my licence. I got a quote for insuring a standard 1.1 seicento and that alone will cost me £2000 to insure, i dread to think the cost it would be telling them it has a redtop engine. This means its really not worth me dropping the conversion into another car which is a big shame.

Im gonna open the car for offers as a whole, this will include all the parts to convert your seicento to a 2ltr with it in the state it is in the pics earlier in the thread. If there is no interest in it i will be breaking it, flogging the engine to someone i know who is interested and selling the one off drive shafts. These are worth £200 on there own.

PM me if your interested.

Shame it's being broken!! Good luck with selling the parts! The engine is wort approx £300-350, gearbox £50-100 and the shafts are worth
about £400 easily. Then there's the brake upgrade £100ish etc... Plus all the copper you can weigh in!!! Don't scrap the shafts if they don't sell, give me a shout.. Not really wanting to convert another sei, but would be good to store for a few years
time haha!
