February 18th will be the best meet in Panda history.
Not defensive at all just showing we get out & about & size of the meet don't matter.
To be fair, we are all very spread out too...I wouldn't really want to take my 750 further than the midlands and that is probably a 2 hour+ drive.
Russ
Do you really think your Panda engine won't run for 2 hours? To be fair, we are all very spread out too...I wouldn't really want to take my 750 further than the midlands and that is probably a 2 hour+ drive.

Do you really think your Panda engine won't run for 2 hours?![]()
Do you think your gearbox won't last for two hours?![]()
Panda 750 Fires will do 200k just like the rest ......![]()
Grab as many roof racks as you can find& good luck.
and one is a niimc meet, where some of the cars are owner by most of the same members.
Martin, like Graham says, I'd be just as confident in a 769cc as I would in a 999cc Panda. It's the same engine after all, just a lower capacity version. Be more adventurous, next time you have to go on a long drive take the Panda. Just make sure you have adequate breakdown cover for peace of mind and away you go.![]()
I will see about some breakdown cover, I could have a go at most mechanical problems but I am still a 'learner'!![]()
Martin
Why? Do you not think it would be capable?
Jim, that's a mad plan. I mean, if you owned a Stilo or something it would be reasonable to expect to get there and back...
Ive done over 140000 miles in 14 months, which has included several high speed motorway trips of 150 miles or more each way. My 903 has proved very reliable and I never think it may breakdown or lose faith in it. I wouldnt hesitate to take it anywhere. We used our old 1000CL for similar work and that was good too, apart from cold starting! In all this torrential rain weve been having Ive seen many cars die in flooding that the Panda copes with, even my wifes VW Passat cuts out now and then in heavy rain/floods... Only dodgy thing is, the roads are so slippery these past couple of weeks and the back end keeps coming round... OK, I should go slower round roundabouts, but its fun correcting it!
Need I recall this?
...and that was me only driving the panda to England!![]()
Suppose post 'Belfast to San Francisco by Panda' if all seems abit academic now as we did 10,000 miles without anything actually breaking in 5 weeks. Ok the dizzy got changed, the bolt on the gearbox worked loose, the alternator didn't like the heat and I'd to service it in Santa Cruz but nothing ever actually broke leaving me stranded....
Jim
Jim
Yes Jim, but I was talking about the Panda from hell, Juppy. I expected him to rust en route.
Sure I've had Pandas from Belfast to Cork and back, that's about my longest journey in one. I'd be happy enough doing it in Splutter.![]()
Actually to be fair I'm not completely sure either my engine or my gearbox would, thats a lot of strain on my little car which is pretty untested and so far hasn't even touched a motorway (well not under my ownership anyway).
I'd be worried driving that long will put it under too much strain and kill it.
Also I don't have the fire engine
Also those of us that are less mechanically minded have to protect our little cars, because we can't fix them ourselves when they go wrong!
