This breather pipe issue on the 1.2 is worrying me! Worrying because I don't think mine has split after 18 months of ownership, exceptional longevity according to the experiences of others. It maybe that my car was fitted from new with the modified pipe but I would really like to see a photo or diagram of where to look for this split (any photos please?). I have taken my pipe off and squeezed and bent it in all directions and it seems pretty robust.

What I did find however....is that you snap the little pipe fixing off the back of the air filter box. I fixed this by drilling out the resulting hole and screw n' glue a brake bleed nipple I happened to have, it's now as tough as old boots.:)

My breather pipe went aswell in March this year, took it to the local dealer and quick as a flash it was repaired. I did not know it was the breather pipe until I asked the question on the forum, so thanks guys for that.

Really hope it does not go again

Same smell again, guess I need another pipe fitting...... had a service in September and asked the garage to check the breather pipe as I could smell oil. They said everything was fine.
I think they may had nipped the pipe and it has got bigger.

I would check it's not the fixing on the back of the airbox. Mine has broken twice and this game a smell of oil.

Hi I checked the breather pipe before I took it into the garage last Saturday and low and behold it had split right down the seam.

I checked at the garage to see when they had replaced it and it was in January this year.

Took my car into the garage last Saturday to get the job done, all I was told to do it to make sure I have the service history book in the car.

The job was completed in about 2hrs, but when I got to the desk the guy said that because I did not leave the service reciepts (the check of lists) He could not verify that the car was in date for servicing.

Took all the lists in yesterday and was told that I would have to wait until the warranty officer is in on Monday to see if I can get a refund.

The car is in its 3rd year of warranty (the part was replaced in January 2nd year of warranty)

Will report when I have more news
 
Hello again,

As you can see I have had the breather pipe replaced, however I am still getting a slight smell of oil coming in when the engine is hot through the air vent. Do you think that it is from when the pipe had split and leaked oil on the engine?
I am going to have a look in the morning and find out, is there another pipe that could have split?
