Seicento Seciento Ms edition 02

Hi all! Just bought a seicento Michael Schumacher edition, 46,000 miles on the clock.

First issues I've noticed panels are not matching in colour skirts, bumpers, bonnet, boot are a darker red. The rest looks more faded.

Engine warning light come on on the drive back, mechanic looked at it and said it was a sensor issue. And it should be fixed in Tuesday.

Fan like noise when starting and on idle, not sure what this is to be honest.

Other than that I love the car, got it dirt cheap and have enjoyed driving it
My knowledge on cars is small so was hoping for some advice, tips, solutions, ideas etc

if it's RED then fading will be almost guaranteed,
yellow is far from immune either

had it been parked-up for a while.. may need a service + good run.. even a low battery can cause chaos with modern car electronics:bang:

anyway,

red does fade on fiats, but the plastics tend to hold the colour better than the metal parts.. My abarth sei is pretty faded but the spoiler and skirts are still pretty red. Also possible its not really a Schumy and the bits that make it look like one have been swapped from a less faded one... does it have ABS and the the plate with the number on it??

There was no service history present on purchase I'm afraid, plan on getting it serviced this week coming.

Yes it has ABS, plate with MS and the no. 2799. Rev counter on the dash too, just seems like a lot of effort to make a replica. Or at least I hope it's a legitimate one. If not it's bloody quick and worth the money spent so far.

Can't see anyone putting ABS on for the fun of it -- several MS owners have torn it out and hurled it in the bin!

Should be no faster than any Sei Sporting.

Its just a sporting mpi at end of day, i seen many many cars with the decal on the boot and the skirts etc stuck on being sold as schumy's. Its not much work at all really, its usually just the plate and number and ABS thats missing if its not a real one. the tacho on dash is normal, not a schumy extra. It was just a thought, but like i said - mine has faded red but bits are still well red compared to others - just random for the bonnet to be red still and not the roof so perhaps that is not the original bonnet....?

Anyhow, a sei of that age should have clear-coat so t-cut won't bring it back red like older fiats unfortunately.

After a little research it's quite easy to pass off as fake to someone like me who had no idea about the car before hand as you said blu73.

It pretty much is the same as the standard sporting, but thoroughly enjoying it as ever since I started diving 5 years or so ago been stuck driving boring diesel MPV's.

Suspect the bonnet has been been changed, reasons for unsure.

Anything I can do to tune it? induction kit? There's probably not a lot you can do or that's worth doing, but would nice if you could.

Easiest mod is to simply bung a Mk2 Punto 1242 8v engine in it.

About 6 more bhp, but a lot more torque, which generally makes the car more fun to drive. Bigger front brakes (Punto GT3/Marea, etc. -- list somewhere in the FAQs/Guides) are a good mod, too.

Oh, and bin the ABS!

there is loads you can do but what depends on your budget and skills... Suggest you read some threads of other members cento's for some inspiration.

The possibilities are literally endless! I have a seicento 1108 turbo and a cinq with a 16v engine from a punto mk1, but people also fit more modern 1.4 16v engines. You can do so so many things that its too hard to list options really.

Thanks once again guys, I'll see how it goes. Sounds and runs pretty nice standard, besides my budget would be minimal. So I'll think about it, firstly I would like to get it mechanically sound. By that I mean full service etc. Will post some pics of it soon in the Cento section.
