I've got a US spec 2013 500 Abarth. I want to silence the seatbelt buzzer permanently. I've read posts that you cannot disable the under seat sensor without it faulting the airbag system. How about bypassing the buckle sensor? Can the chime itself be removed?

Please don't respond about why I would want to disable it.

I have seen a pair of plastic tongues that go in the seat belt clips for 99p from QD (a local discount store). That would do the job if you don't want to wear a seat belt.

Or you could always buy a pair of these

I specifically stated not to go to the topic of why and you all just couldn't stay away. Truth is it is not relevant to my question. If I want to take my seat belt off while driving in a parking lot, to access my wallet, to coast Into my driveway, or pull out a gun to do a drive-by, it still is not relevant to my question. The post now should be renamed to "why do people take posts off topic when they have nothing of value to add?" I've been members of many forums and I have to be honest that this one is the worst for that I have seen.

Adding dummy latches assumes I never want my belt on and would in itself be a safety hazard to put in while driving. I am a responsible adult that does not need to be protected from myself. If you have any information on how the buckle sensor is wired, please help me. If you do not, please move on.

No disrespect 71Pantera, but if people want to ask then that's their right :) Perhaps at the start if you'd stated why you wanted to in a calm and reasonable manner then perhaps your motives wouldn't have been questioned.

There is, as far as I know, no way to simply disable the buzzer, it's a safety feature of the car and as such is designed not to be defeated.

Sorry if my suggestion 'offended' you but that was the closest I could get to what you wanted, with the information you gave, without reprogramming the cars computer. Personally I don't care why you want to do it and deliberately didn't put any opinion in my answer. I hope you get it sorted to your satisfaction easily but you may be looking at rewiring the buckle switch too fool the car into thinking the seatbelt is connected. (And that could open up a whole new can of worms)

In the UK the dealership can deactivate the buzzer if you have a medical exemption from your doctor via the fiat examiner computer, not sure what the us policy is

The buckle only has 2 wires to it... But not sure if it's a N.O / N.C. switch. But since if fitted side air bags wiring lives in the same loom. Leave well alone if your not sure what your doing

Bu-bye then. 'fraid you started with the attitude first.

You're not going to get many people tell you how to deliberately circumvent a safety system in a car without understanding the motivation for doing so. So you did yourself out of an answer by starting with the whole "Don't give me reasons for why I can't do this". As YOU say, there may be a genuine reason. I highly doubt it, though.

There's an easy way to find out: Buy a wiring diagram and system documentation and work it out. I could have helped you, however I'm afraid I'm not going to divulge the information found from my eLearn documentation as it cost me a not insignificant sum, and I don't think people who approach questions with such attitude deserve any help.

Not to be a killjoy but...

FIAT Ecu Scan (mutiecuscan) can disable the buzzer. The light still comes on to remind you though.

It's great if you just need to move the car around works car park etc.

Some of the higher spec Bosch diagnostic gear can also do it.

The end result is a new menu item allowing you to decide if you need it on or off.
