General Seat Panda Terra

General Seat Panda Terra

Not a great deal happened recently. And of course I forgot the camera so what did occur went unrecorded.
Had a couple of hours on the car Friday; put the drivers seat in and quickly realised that the steering wheel was miles off to the left (Well not quite as far as when it was LHD) so I remounted the column and now it's fine.
I fitted the engine rad cooling fan by modifying a couple of brackets and started preping the Marbella doors I got from 'turbo_pib'.
I can't do much until I have an interior; which hopefully will be sometime this coming week. Once I can fit the dash then I can consentrate on the wiring loom which is in three big bits and needs lots of solder joints.
I remembered to bring those 'mystery' screen vents home so here are a couple of pics.... Any offers on how they fit and what too.? Are they Panda items.?

Latest update: I made my pilgramage to the Pope of Pandas and....

Those plastic screen vents/inserts don't fit MK 1's; which just have the metal dash grill.
Mine will be having the full width plastic doofa mainly because it can.

I now have a full interior but there were a couple of things I had started which I needed to finish before the dash could go in.

I mentioned that I had started prepping one of the Marbella doors.
While in theory it was just a matter of filling the 8 mounting clip holes that that the large plastic door bottoms fitted in to; life is never that simple.
Whilst the myth persists that 'SEAT' doors are galvanised, I wasn't prepared to do as I usually would and fill the holes with weld and grind them back. So; I scratched up the holes and their surroundings a bit, pinged the edge in/down with a body hammer and then whacked on nice big blobs of filler so that it could really get stuck in and fill every hole in one go. BUT

It would appear that when SEAT punch those holes in MK1 Fiat doors they much use a sledgehammer, because every hole was at the bottom of a dent. So I deftly applied another thin layer of filler.

No; still not coming up flat. Another layer of filler.

Starting to get there

Here we are then.. And don't forget to remove the decal.

This is like a hair dryer (which will do the job) for bald people. Use a wooden stick like those out of popular coffee bars that don't pay tax, and try not to burn your hand. Finish off with a rough cloth and thinners.

And paint

I got this very poor pic just before the battery ran out in the camera (I don't aspire to one of those posh phones).

And the sun came out, and there was no wind and I had paint in the gun and it was to cold to spray but what the hell I won't be near the car for a couple of days so it can dry slowly.

I did do more than this but no photo evidence.
I also started to fit the dash but as I was leaning over soft paint I quit while I was ahead.

You missed the opportunity to mention that the satin olive drag looks great, much better than that red which is so 'passe'
(This will have some bearing on the eventual destination of any wheel trims.)

Haha.....got to admit I quite liked the red......the green will need something to break it up I think...not sure what though. I am a fan of the ruffty tuffty army green look on cars and maybe a beige canvas roof would break the green up.

Guess I've bombed out on the wheel trims now...just can't lie..:D

Oh MY God I said 'DRAG' not 'DRAB' this must be some kind of underlying inhibition which I have just exposed. A Freudism that means my street cred is zero and now I'm damned.

At least it's a SEAT... Ha ha SEAT SEAT..............

Aghhhhhhhhhhh it's alright I feel better now
