Looking for some infor on the red bravo with the screen in the place of the head unit and the head unit in the air vent.

I'm thinking about doing this, if any one can give me any info on this I would be greatful,

eg.

do you need the make a pod for the screen what fits just in place of the headunit? That seems fairly simple and you don't need to get rid of the air vents!

How do you go about putting the head unit in the front air vent? I guess this is the hard bit!

any ideas on prices for the work?

Thanks in advance!

Doinf what Brendan did to his bravo would take a heck of alot of work. Fibreglass MDF and filler oh and lots of shaping and sanding!

To get a company to do some thing like that for you would cost quite a lot of cash.

I know a guy who'd take it on for you at a cut price up here in Yorkshire, He really know his stuff.

His company punto turbo was at max faily near mine last week

ask for Tim

Went to max power live at the NEC last week i think i saw the car ur on about, looked pretty trick but theres other things id rather spend my money on.

ps the show was wicked just needed more bravo's!

Ok cheers Rob!

I thought a pod to hold the screen would be fairly simple/not too expensive! Am I right is it the mounting of the head unit that is the hard/expensive bit?

Do you have any other suggestions on screens and mounting as going for the motorised ones seems to be much more expensive!

The mounting of the headunits the easy part, it's the screen thats gonna cause the head scratching and money!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Screen in dash and Head unit in air vent!

none of it's difficult, especially when you have one to look at. the one your talking about is the phase show car which i think is for sale.

See if you can find one of those old top loading videos at a car boot and try use the machanism off that. It might need the springs uprating to take the weight but the basics are there! i had one but i think i threw it away when i moved :( I will have a look sometime.

I would think you would have to block the top vent off, cooling would be good for the head unit in the summer but the heater might not be so helpful in the winter!

I think the best way to make a converter for the screen would be to carve the shape you want out of polystyrene in sections, then fit it together, line it with tinfoil then lay fibreglass inside.

Then just fill the outside and rub it down smooth.

Very time consuming and a bit of hacking of the car but i wouldn't have thought too difficult!

Does anyone have any links on the phase bravo, with write ups about it?

Cheers.

nath,
personally i wouldnt fit that into your car. i dont think it looks that nice i would go for a roof mount - if anything
but each to their own

Hi

Have a complete dashboard just removed from a 96 Bravo which you could experiment with or use to put car back to standard spec if selling.

If interested please e-mail me at [email protected]

Re: Hi

problem with putting it in the roof is you lose your rear view mirror. What about putting the screen in instead of the vent and the head unit lower down.

Re: Re: Hi

or just put the screen in the steering wheel like that car on topgear. The silly looking one which we are all going to drive in 20 years which will take all fun away from diving.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Screen in dash and Head unit in air vent!

I don't think you can put one of those screen mounts on if you have an electric sunroof can you?

Re: Re: Re: Hi

Or put the screen in your lounge. Can have a nice 42" plasma screen, DVD, 5.1 dolby, PS2, PS1, x-box, coffee machine, Mr Frosty, Soda Stream, PC, separate stack hi-fi, guitar and amp, ***** extender (?), 600 CD's, George Foreman Grill, Breville and still be able to see out of the windscreen to drive because all that crap is still in the house!

Or maybe not.....
