Fanbelt? When does it happen e.g. accelerating. Btw as it has fuel injection it doesnt have a carb it has a throttle body.

Hi Punto Jack

Sorry for being ignorant these euro boxes are new to me more use to old landrovers lol . Anyway fan belt (Alternator Belt) and dint realise it was fuel injected, Right the noise starts as u start the engine up but then goes when it is at idle but when i rev the engine the noise comes back but when the engine is warm and i drive it the noise goes.

Any ideas? as it is doing my head in lol

Hi, sounds like a vacuum leak, as u said c'min from the throttle body try this, mix washing up liquid/water in a spray bottle ,shake well, with the engine cold spray around the matting surfaces ie, throttle body to manofold , inlet & exhaust manofold to engine & look for blowing of larger bubbles should indicate leak.(y) P.S start engine before spraying.

It doesn't have a "fanbelt" either, if you're picking holes. :p:cry:

Uber fail, he corrected himself before you pointed out his fail :p.

Is the high pitch noise combined with like a mechanical clicking sort of noise which comes then goes at the same time as the whine?

UBER UBER UBER fail to you then sir, it was Punto.Jack who said it had a fanbelt, and Foster Ice who said alternator belt. So he never corrected himself so D4NNY 8OY was right to FAIL him for it. shouldn't really be trying to point all these fails out in a serious thread really but seeing as you tried to I thought I would.

Anyway back on topic before Missey tells us all off :p#

Does the noise sound like and electrical noise or a mechanical one (e.g. something rubbing) Because I currently have an issue with my ECU connections letting out a high pitched whine / squeal, could be something like that.

Usefull post and completely wrong. Why did D4nnyboy have to point it out again? But meh who care we're here to help fosters and his car.

Anyway yes I have a high pitched whine from the Ecu when you first prime the ECU, first click of the key (think its normal tbh ). Then followed by a clicking noise similar to a HP office jet print heads priming...

Really weird but normal I think.

Glad to hear it, when I brought my car it had been repaired from a crash and the bloke who repaired it cut a few corners. Got most of it sorted out now but everytime I find a new quirk I get paranoid.

it doesn't sound like an electrical noise sounds more like the alternator belt is rubbing but it isn't mixed with a sucking air sound if that makes any sence.
