My next door neighbours cat likes sleeping on my Stilo's bonnet for some reason and after a good clean yesterday I noticed quite a few fine scratches this morning that were not there yesterday. It's really annoying as it doesn't lie on anyone elses car apart from mine! Probably likes the bright blue colour. ;)

Anyone know anything I can do to stop the bugger from causing anymore scratches. Apart from kicking it up the arse!! :D

Also can anyone recommend any good polish to get those fine scratches out??

Stan..

Get an air rifle & shoot the f****r. Autoglym fine cut is the dogs b*****ks & once you use this you should go over the bonnet again with normal wax. My advice though if you catch the cat on there again take your car to a bodyshop get them to mop the bonnet & give the invoice to your neighbor. (y)

Moping is only for extreme cases such as fading and cheap vinyl that has eaten into the laquer. :D

It's also for any light scratches. We get clients all the time enquiring about mopping, usually after they've put it through one of those stupid car washes because they can't be bothered to do it themselves.

Moping is the later option if polishing doesnt work though. And yeah i agree i wouldnt touch those bloody machines even if they paid me £50 to put it through. We get cars in constantly with marks all over the roof... and the feckin brissels stuck into the car all over the place.

D4ns,

Well so far there's any a few a scratches but it's starting to annoy me though..

So you Reckon using the purple autoglym which is the super resin polish or the paint renovator and then normal polish should do the trick?

Stan...

Yeah the purple or pink one first then go over it again with the red one which is the super resin polish the purple one is a fine cutting polish.

I know the red ones called superresin, but the other i havent got a clue. lol. We just get HOOOGE drums of it at work. Its all colour coded and thats it. Try that first. Get a tester kit from halfrauds with the mini bottles in. If that doesnt work you can try a cutting compound. Now thats in a black bottle, its not autogleam but has like quite a lot of grit in it. Damn these labelless bottles. lol. Benny will know what its called.

I hope you're not talking about G-matt. Anyway as D4ns says a decent rubbing/cutting compound (I use G4) then a fine cutting polish then the super resin stuff. Only use the compound on the more severe scratches & plenty of elbow grease is required (try not to do it on a hot day :D ).
