I got a letter from Fiat today by recorded delivery, apparently there are two recalls. The first is for a BSI update to the engine management for the 2.0 petrol engines, it stops the anti-pollution light coming on and causing a reduction in the braking assistance. This will be fixed by a software update.

The second is for the air conditioning drainage pipe, which may be too short and cause water to enter the passenger compartment and airbag module. This could cause a airbag warning light and unintentional deployment of the airbag.

Mine is going in on Monday anyway for a service so they can fix it at the same time.

If you didn't get one, you may like to check with the garage to see if it's affected

Hi,

I have also just received a letter by Registered Post for my 2.2 JTD. The first recall is for the Under Engine Sound Deadening Guard which may become loose whilst the vehicle is in motion. The second recall is the same as Andy's for the Air Conditioning Drainage pipe.

That's curious because I have the under engine guard and I didn't get that recall even though I know Peugeot and Citroen have recalled the petrol cars for the guard. I will have to ask the garage, thanks for the info.

Hmm, nice one Andy - I will have a look on the VOSA site as well, a bit later on.

No letter received by us today.

They probably did yours when your car was serviced without telling you, but it's worth a check. My neighbour got one for the same airbag problem and he has a new Mazda 3, probably same manufacturer of airbag module. He did have the airbag light on a few times.

Ah, when I had mine serviced a few weeks back, they mentioned about 2 recalls on it; iirc, one of these was to do with the guard....

I may give Motorvogue a ring next week ;)

EDIT - nothing noted on www.vosa.gov.uk either...

I had the recall notice for the guard, when I told the garage if they wanted to modify mine they would have to look on the side of the road in France for it. They said I would have to buy a new one. I said are you not doing a mod to stop it coming off, they said yes so my reply was well you are too late doing your recall. They said they would look it to it, needless to say I still don't have one!!

Hi,

I had my recall work done a couple of days ago. It appears you do not get any confirmation from the garage to state that the work has been carried out.

I know this is an old thread but my guard is shredded and is about to fall off and is making a racket as it bangs against the ground. According to the recall letter I had it was described as an under engine sound deadening guard. Does anybody know if this is its purpose or is it protection for some sensitive components? Eper refers to it as protection. I am about to do a very long journey before it can be replaced so I will need to pull it off in case it snags and pulls back on itself causing some other damage to my car or anybody elses vehicle following behind.
