Just got a safety recall letter in the post re Campaign 5839 Dash wiring, apparently on some RHD cars there is to quote - 'potential interference of the wiring under the dash with the steering column potentially causing the wiring to wear out over time'. Anyone else get one of these? My car is 2014 Reg TA but built late 2013.

Is it only the 2013/4 cars?

dunno, presume so, and not all at that. At least I know the recall system works and I am on the database. This one probably involves keeping the wiring loom away from the column with a tie wrap! I'll get it in to my Fiat approved Indie next week.

Is there a simple way to find out? Should Fiat list the affected vin number build? And if so where?

If you mean where is your VIN, you'll find it in the boot, under the mat, just to the left of the spare wheel.

Sorry I did not word it very well. For a recall, do Fiat publish the affected cars and if so where can I look at this list?

I would expect Fiat to list affected cars by their vin numbers, so it might read:
Recall from Vin:xxxxxxxxx to. Vin: xxxxxxxx

Call a dealership. Spending on the severity of the recall it might be lists on the visa website. Google for visa recall :)

Agree with maxi, your local dealership's service dept should be up to speed with recalls.

I've had a look on the VOSA website and it's not listed on there

Just back from my Indie who checked the Campaign details, I had a good look at the photos included, there is a wiring loom that literally rests against the steering column and this needs to be held out of the way by 2 specified tie wraps. You could see from the photos how it could potentially cause a problem by wearing through the loom eventually. Leaving it in when they get the specified tie wraps in stock from Fiat!

Bah just had my yearly service done last month. Not sure I want to go back just to get this done as my dealership service centre is so far away. Might just put it off till next year's service seeing as I do extremely low mileage anyway.

Just been 'phoning around enquiring about the first service on our TA. Service manager I just spoke to at one of my 'ahem' local Fiat dealership's (all four local dealerships are 15 to 20 miles away from me) and he has confirmed that our car is affected by the recall, so it'll be in to be done soonest. Our car was built September 2012. Service manager has said that a recall notice should have been sent out to us by now or should at least 'be in the post'.

Whilst they're at it, they'll be fixing the rear boot handle micro switch, which just like the last POP, has failed already and I'm not bothering my backside to sort it myself when the car is under warranty! Just waiting for a door handle to break off now lol!

Sounds like it might be all TA's then
