RWD For £300-£500?

What ever you buy in that budget will be a shed and will cost you the same again (at least) to keep it on the road at first MOT.

I take it you don't plan on running it long?

that's what i was told about my punto, even when i said i'd take a punt at the MOT for the sake of £40 i was too told i'd be wasting money, cost me £20 to get through.

not really, just something to mess about with and drive around in for the winter, gunna be tricky getting out my street with RWD though in the snow :p

well yeah lol, but its still behind the seats so classed as rear :p but indeed you do get a boot behind the engine.

If the engine is above or in front of the rear axle/ suspension, it's classed as 'mid' engined. If it's behind the rear axle (like a Porsche 911/ VW Beetle/ Skoda Estelle and Rapid/ Hillman Imp etc.) then it's 'rear' engined.

;)

Have a look at this link, tells you everything you need to know, as its a very common issue. HOWEVER, it says to put in the tensioner in its compressed state and rev the engine to 3k rpm to pop it out, I would advise against that. Instead, Decompress the tensioner by placing it end down on a flat surface, turn slightly and carefully and the spring pressure will be released, it makes it a bit more of a faff to get it back in, but the engine is protected straight away. Its rarely the chain itself unless the car has been run for a long time with a worn tensioner.

EDIT, found you another link, this is the better one lol, nice bargain btw!
