2007 1.3 MJ Doblo Cargo 120k miles.
Engine management light came on, garage diagnosed new turbo and EGR.
They've replaced both not it won't rev beyond 3k RPM - in any gear. They confirm all the parts are fitted OK having done a load more diagnoses. They now say they're stumped and it needs to go to a fuel analysis centre. If they fitted a pattern part (EGR) would that make any difference? Do our sensitive, temperamental Italian beauties get knickers in a twist if we fit non-Fiat parts? Any other ideas please?

Did it rev properly before they worked on it?
What were the fault codes read before they changed egr and turbo?
Has anyone checked for codes since? The warning light doesn't have to be on for codes to be stored.
Was it Kwik fit/ formula 1 or the like?
Have you paid any money?

If driving ok bar fault light before they worked on it and you have paid any money contact trading standards immediately.
They have left you without a working vehicle.
Very bad.
Trading standards will tell you your rights and what you should do next.
Trading standards may have changed name try a Google search for up to date name and contact details.
I rang for advice once and they were very good.

No, this is a local garage with a big reputation and have always been trusty. Certainly not a KF etc.
After the warning light lit it wouldn't rev beyond 3k. Didn't want to push it. Certainly before the turbo / egr was changed, and the light would come on at 3k RPM and rev no more.
Yes fault codes were read and given to me as part of the diagnostic. It stated low boost pressure. They have since checked again - codes and laptop electrical diagnostics all confirming turbo and egr and OK. They then took it to a fuel / tuning specialist in Portsmouth who've confirmed the timing chain has stretched. WTF??? I thought the whole point of a timing chain was that it didn't need to be maintained/replaced?
Yes I've paid £1,400 for the work done, it was only after I got it back and tried revving beyond 3k, that I became aware of the problem again.
Could it be that the timing chain has indeed stretched and that was the original cause of the limiting rev count at 3k but their diagnostics failed to pick up on that seeing instead a poor turbo performance?
Don't know what the hell to do now.

Contact trading standards straight away for advice.
My view is the garage has not fixed the fault yet has charged you anyway. The garage should have road tested work before handing back to you (possibly they did and kept quiet)
I hope you paid by credit card , you have stronger options.
My thought is if fault is with timing chain other work may have been unnecessary.
Either way round looks like you have paid for something (the repair) which you haven't received.
Keep us informed.

Do some research on your doblo engine asking if there is a fault code for stretched timing chain.
Start another thread asking that question.
In title give your engine year , type , and cc

I had this problem when i overboosted to 1.7 bar. The engine will go into limp mode and throw a code that shows "boost level lower than expected".....dunno why it doesn't tally but that is what happened. Just reset the computer and it would it fine. Shouldn't be egr related as i have completed remove the solenoid without reflashing yet and it doesn't go into limp mode
