running lights

does anyone know how i can turn my indicators into running lights like american cars.
kinda reverse them so they're on and then go off and on to indicate when i use them.
saw them when out in the states and i thought it would be a suttle(wrong spelling) , but cool mod.

without hacking about at the bravo electrics too much the easiest way would probably be to put a small relay behind each light so that the bravo's indicator wire switched it and the bulb was connected to a live supply through the Normally Closed side.

A couple of points though, on American cars is it not the case that at the rear the red light flashes to signal a turn and they have lights along the side which are always orange and don't flash? Not something i've ever really looked at!

Also how would this effect your MOT?

i think there is one or two makes of cars that actually do that - maybe volvo or sumin like that or even trucks/vans - i do now you can get them but i do beleiev you have to have seperate indicators - which is what these cars do have.

i know americans do use the tail lights to indicate but my gf is a yank and all there dodges have running lights, no way to switch it and let the current run though and then switch off to indicate?

as i said, this could be done easily with a relay behind each bulb. Take the wires from the bulb and connect them to the switching part of the relay, then a wire from live on the side lights through the Normally Closed contact on the relay, through the blub and to ground. Then they will be on when the side lights are and go out when you indicate. (so long as the side light circuit can take the extra bulbs, i shouldn't think it would be a problem!)

Still not sure how legal it would be, i guess volvo have the orange lights down the side in this country though.
