Technical Rough Idle

Technical Rough Idle

Yup. I don't think it's related.
It's a mixture problem. I'm sure of it. Air leak, butterfly intake, or fuel pump or something like that.

Either way it really is annoying.

Car is idling almost normally now.
Slight needle movement around the 750 revs, but it's not dropping to the stall anymore.
If I leave it for 10 mins and come back to an already warm car, fire her up then the revs to drop up and down, but if I rev it for 10 seconds that clears and it revs normally again. Well almost normally, still flickers slightly around 750rpm.
Any ideas? Water temp sensor maybe?

Tried 3 valves now.
I'm confused as to why switching to regular unleaded has almost cured it.
Going yo try one more.

That's it. I'm stumped.
Since I replaced super unleaded with regular unleaded the idling has been improving to the point that it is now running beautifully. I mean not even a flutter.
I had fuel injector cleaner in it about 4 tanks ago to try and resolve the issue with idle, but the improvement started to happen once I switched to regular. I'm stomped as to what is actually going on.
I'll see how it runs over the next few days, but maybe the injector cleaner did the job? Who knows. Gremlins eh?

Ori, How's the car, is it still running rough?

Nope. Car is running beautifully. New idle control valve, injector cleaner, bad fuel. Who knows what fixed it.
The new fuel seemed to really cure it. Might have been a combination of all of the above, but it idles so nicely now even when I start it from warm it idles immaculately.

At last :)
Well done for finally sorting it out.

It's great when things are good for a change...I have similar sort of issue with mine. It idles around the 950 mark but sometimes it will stay between 1000-1500 untill I tap the acc pedal. I notice it more when I come to a stop at lights and disengage the clutch???? Any ideas?

Well, I'm going to through everything I did.
Fuel injector cleaner
Lambda sensor
Idle control valve
Coil packs tested
Wiring checked
Maf sensor checked

My gut feeling is that is was a combination of the lambda, idle control and fuel injector cleaner. Also I switched to regular unleaded which should in theory make no difference, but seemed to help.

As top gear would say.... It's for that one moment where returning works perfectly. ;)
