Hey guys,

I am completely lost. Rough idling is pretty bad with it worse when the car is started after leaving for ten mins and starting her up. Eventually she will settle to a rough idle, but she does like to drop and almost stall.

Things we have tried:

New idle control valve
New Lambda & MAF sensor
New Plugs
New coil packs
Coil pack cables look in good condition.

Anyone have any ideas? Roger suspects maybe an air leak, but where from? Its going to have to be trial and error on replacing hoses....sigh. Maybe a temperature sensor somewhere? Rain seems to make the problem worse.

Am about to start pulling my hair out!!!!

It's cool.
More worried about the car. Thinking of trying redex fuel system cleaner. See if that helps with the idle. Might be slightly clogged injectors???? Anyone have any experience with that stuff?

As an update, the car idles better with the Aircon on.
Also, once fully warm it does idle a lot a better. Almost normal. Just a slight wiggle.

Forget about REDEX......waste of time.
Sounds electrical to me......water/damp somwhere on the HT side (coil packs/leads/spark plugs).

Changed plugs, packs and checked wiring. Seems fine.
I'm even considering doing the unthinkable and taking it to fiat.

Never,ever do that..............Fiat.......****e.
If you don't mind a hike, there is one person who can sort it for you.....he can also get another 30 horses after a remap :)
Give a Leighton a call.
He is "flea" on ffcuk and he is based in Bristol.
He has had my car twice and he is exeptional.
If anyone can get it purring.....he can

Bristol? Long journey for me from nw London.
Have you got a contact number?

Found his website. Will call him tomorrow. I can probably get down there Saturday or Sunday.
I didn't particularly want a remap, but if that's what it takes to solve my problem then I'll do it. I've even tried installing the gtec 1 chip and it hasn't solved the problem.

Everyone who owns a coupe eventually meets Leighton.
We travel from all over the country to see him......he really is that good.
Honestly Ori,you could not be in better hands when you see Flea.
Have a chat when you meet him and tell him what you want.....he is a nice guy to boot.
He is not cheap, but he is the best......full stop.
If he sorts your coupe, which he will,it will be sorted,
ps....he is about 7 foot tall and very good looking.
Had to keep the Mrs. on a lead :D
Seems like he has a better degree than the Mrs. too.

Well, I will give him a call today.
I thought he only did performance upgrades and not diagnostic work. I need to sort out this problem as I can't see it getting better on its on.
It's probably something really small too!!! arghhh

Umm, silly question, cant' you leave it with Rog to sort?

Its timing. I will leave it with Rog at the end of this month to sort. Nothing else I can do really.
I saw him today. He needs to do a compression test and then assuming it is not mechanical, his electrician will go through it and hopefully isolate the problem.
It is very annoying that it doesn't show up any faults on the system.
It seems that on idle, one of the cylinders isn't running properly.

Ori hi, is there an in-line fuse which works with the MAF? Is the connector broken? I had an issue with mine a while ago and it turned out to be a broken wire in the MAF connector, worth a try?

Maf is giving a reading as we checked it on the diagnostics.
It seems like all the sensors are responding as they should.
I'm leaning toasted an air leak somewhere or a mechanical fault ie. Valve,
Injector etc....

Filled up with regular unleaded as opposed to v power and the car is idling better. Not brilliantly, but a lot better.
Could indicate something, or more likely coincidence or the weather being better today. No idea.

Don't think it's the fuel mate
When these are running right, they are a dream.
When not, they are pigs that will normally cost and arm and 8 legs.
