Re:f linning

Hi Dunk,

The roof lining in my 999 1993 (Wi Sunroof) is not very strong. Its only held in position by plastic clips – so I dough its structural. – I can’t see it making much difference (I Guess).

Rgds,

i wouldnt imagine the roof lining is structural, my sunroof leaked in my old uno and i replaced it, it was the cardboard type and fell to pieces as i was taking it out

i replaced it with a more rigid roof lining from an uno but i wouldnt think that had more structure to it

Grams Less

Cheers Dunk,

When I get my smooth boot and rear turbo spoiler off Spam0r (didn’t happen this weekend) I was thinking of having the back Reg plate sprayed (painted) on - Instead of fitting a new plate. – Would shave off a few grams…

– Not sure if that’s legal but I reckon my grapher will have a good finish lol.

Kind Regards,

If you take the roof lining out you'll get loads of condensation forming on the exposed metal on cold mornings. Give it a few weeks and hello mildew. The roof layer acts as an insulator too+ soaks up any condensation that might form & drip.

The lining weighs little, you'll probably save more weight taking your shoes off.

Louie,

I think it you paint your number plate on it will only serve as a Cop Magnet. Unless you can get it done with a reflective background it will probably be illegal. UK construction and use act is now very strict with regards to numberplates. You can't (legally) buy a new one any more unless you go to an approved supplier and take the vehicle log book with you. This is to combat fraud apparently, but crooked types know where to get number plates from through the black market.

And 4paws, I had to laugh! You're right, you'll probably save more weight taking your shoes off than removing the headlining! It's only a piece of card after all. I took mine off to sort out the sunroof, and as it was tatty I was going to have it re-covered but never got round to it. Can hardly say I noticed a performance increase without it!

Nice one Chas;)

I definitely don't want that!

I was thinking of having it sprayed on the curved bit of the bumper – I guess with my Smooth boot and black rear window it would be the icing on the cake.

Back to the drawing board…
