I wanted to share an experiences regarding cheap wheel bearings. I just replaced the front left wheel bearing as the old one was very noisy. I bought on autodoc Ridex front bearing for ABS (with the magnetic ring). After replacement I experienced the ABS, ESP failure with accompanying lights. The bearing was put in the hub with correct orientation. I figured perhaps the ABS sensor was damaged during the procedure so I installed a new sensor. The problem still persisted. Then I bought a TRW bearing from a local dealer. Installed it. And no more ABS failure. I think this is quite concerning. The magnetic attraction perhaps felt weaker on the Ridex bearing compared to the TRW but to be honest its difficult to say for sure.

Any one experiences such an issue before?

Now I have ony the hill holder light is turned on. I am not sure about this one as ABS, ASR lights are NOT on so i guess this hill holder warning light has nothing to do with the ABS. What do you think?

No problems with ridex as far as I can see

Usually the abs light on after an new bearing is due to the orientation of the circlip

The gap in the circlip has to align with the abs sensor, often over looked

Ridex brand has been going for 9 years with nearly 50 million parts sold, if there was a problem the internet forums would be full of people Shouting about it

I suspect it's just a rebanded parts for autodoc (B2B and B2C) to cut down costs in the supply Chain, but don't quote me on this

As far as I can see, if you have a problem with one of their products the seem keen to sort it out, which in my eyes can only be a good thing, I see someone had a steering rack swapped out

I have used transmech clutchs in a panda, which is a euro car parts rebrand of a blueprint, which is funny because according to the internet transmech are rubbish and blueprint are fine, there the same part out of the same factory

Don't tend to use Ridex ones myself (only use Autodoc occasionally and then usually only for branded stuff thats on a particularly good offer), but have fitted a few for other people over the years. Haven't been a problem.
Apart from the circlip being mis-positioned, the main cause of ABS errors i have come across has been where someone has used a magnetised tool to insert the bearing (or possibly the circlip), thereby screwing up the magnetic pattern on the bearing ring.
(Oh... and one occasion where somebody used a non-ABS bearing.)
