Technical Reversing Light Always On

I have a Marea Weekend SX (2001 Y reg UK model).

I noticed yesterday that the reversing light comes on with the ignition (the engine need not be running).

My first thought was a faulty switch, but even when I removed all 15 fuses in the bank next to the steering wheel the light came on. Shouldn't one of those cover the reversing light? I don't want to spend money having the switch replaced if it is unlikely to be the problem.

look on the gearbox.you will see wires connecting to the gearbox housing.
this is the switch.
pull one of the connectors off.
then you can see if the light goes off.
very easy to replace yourself

I found details of the fuses in another thread, and the reversing light isn't one of the main bank of 15. I pulled the correct fuse, and the light went out, so I am less worried now about crazy wiring faults, and can drive around happily until I have a chance to check the switch.

With all the help available from this forum, maybe I'll be able to solve the various problems and keep this car!
