has anyone ever had a problem with the reverse light not working I have checked the switch, bulb and the fuse all seem ok which fuse should it be on I have checked all the ones that don't have a plastic cage over them all are fine, is there any multi plugs etc that suffer from bad connections? its a 51 plate JTD:bang:

my reversing light wont work either, bulb ok and switch ok but no power to switch!!!! we use hazard lights in the dark! Would love to get it fixed.

Any joy on this?
Mine haven't worked for months now, time I got round to fixing it really!
Was toying with the idea of wiring in a couple of 12v Dichroic Lamps (low voltage household) fitted in the rear bumper, with a manual switch.
Would be nice to have something that actually lit up the area behind the car instead of the pathetic glow of the standard lamp (why are 99% of car reversing lamps so poor?).
Would also be handy when you get one of those pr##ks behind you who insist on having their Fog Lamps on in all weathers! :tosser:

Hi

I had this problem with mine, and found that the wire that runs to the switch on the gearbox had rubbed through the gear box mount and had corroded that badly that the copper core was green dust. All I did was replace the wire with new wire, using crimp connections, taped up all of the new part with electrical tape, refitted the corrugated cable protector and then zip tied it to various parts of the car, e.g. air con dryer, making sure that it can move freely as the engine and gear box rocks forwards and backwards.

I hope that this works for you, as I was stumped and was on the verge of replacing the switch in the gearbox, but had no need to.

Best of luck.

I'm sure my switch checked out OK when it first happened (power to it and out when in reverse), and the bulb, so must be a wire/connection fault somewhere.
Would help to have a decent wiring diagram available
