Technical rev fails

Hi All,

Got problem with my 1.6 Stilo. When accelerating hard yesterday, the engine revs dropped right off and the accelerator went dead, no response at all. Engine management light came on with usual 'beep beep beep'. Switched off ignition and re-started and the engine responded to the accelerator as normal. Couldn't get the fault code, my mate has borrowed my code reader, but later on, after a couple of starts the engine management light disappeared from the dash and all is well again. The last time I had this, the code came up with MAP sensor fault. Would a MAP fault cause total loss of power and no response from the accelerator?

had the same symptons on my 1.6, but unlike yours, did not come right after switching off/ on, turned out my ecu failed, hope you have better luck than me mate !

Hope it isn't the ECU! Anybody else have any ideas what it might be?

My 19JTD has started having this problem, it doesnt happen all the time but it started in the last week and started becoming more regular.

The problem mainly occurs after slowing down and before entering the roundabout, i shift into 3rd gear and apply the accelerator and it seems to have a delayed reaction and acts as if im trying to pull away in 5th gear. the power restores after a few seconds bit its really startign to annoy me!

could it be something as simple as an air or fuel filter?
