Retarded Engine???

Hello All.

My name is Lee, i own a Fiat BRAVA, i have noticed when driving and i got to nail it half the time it runs ok but the the other half it feels rearded and doesnt want to go anywhere, what the hell is its problem as fiat say there is nothing but i think they r trying to get out of the warrenty,

BUT WAIT theres more.

also if the engine has warmed up and im rolling in 3rd gear at 50 ish when i stop accellerating i get this rattling sound is this a ball bearing on my gear box???? or some thing else.

Lee - That noise your hearing is your thrust bearing in your clutch. I have exactly the same problem.

Just leave it and wait for it to go, then you'll need a new clutch. You may get 1,000 miles out of it, you may get 10,000.
My other Bravo (1.4) has this problem too, and it's still going after 20,000 miles without a new clutch (but the sound is getting progresivly worse)

It's either replace clutch now, or later, or just wait for it to go pop.

You could try resetting the ECU to cure your power problem.

Leave you battery dissconnected for about 12 hrs...then drive sensibly for the next hundred or so miles..

Your mpg will drop for a while then go back up.
