The strut mount area would need welding, then a new strut, a garage would want to replace both struts, so thats £500?

Two tyres, £130.

Maybe it needs rear brake shoes? £150.

Droplink, new wipers, £60.

New wheel trim/covers, £40

Damage to the boot...

Full valet...

Average price on autotrader, £1600.

Do you think it’s had a whack then that’s why they’re not bothering?
Not sure now, I was thinking rust, but couldn't see signs at top mount so maybe something underneath?
I always do an MOT check on Reg. if looking to buy.
Not a guarantee but at least a guide.
Trouble is until you have a good look in person it is all a guess.:(

LOL. OK.

Your friendly MOT man is ideal for this car :D

What about the colour though? I mean its not banana yellow, but still thats quite distinctive!

I’ve driven worse trust me. Biggest downside for me would be that I’d have to go to the south coast to fetch it! Still got MOT though so some temporary insurance and see if it gets you home would be my approach, if it does without any major issues then you’ve got a good one!

You could get some AA cover, they usually start 24-48 hours after you take out the policy.

You might be able to bring the paintwork back to life with some cutting compound, make it shiny lol.

My dad had two canary yellow Ford Capri's, one after the other, so possibly 10 years of driving in total. People could spot him coming along the road easily :D

Don’t worry i’m fully AA covered, bought many a wreck knowing it’s there as a backup 😉 The colour wouldn’t be an issue tbh

You should buy it. I mean it could be back on the road in a few weeks.

It'd be good to see the renovation happening. I've got my "Copart car" thread where i'm putting all the work that goes into that to get it back on the road. When it passes its MOT i'll take one of my Puntos off the road and keep it in reserve for a rainy day.

I don't really have issue with yellow either, but its not my favourite colour. Now i'm thinking about colours I saw in person my first Fiat 600 hybrid a few days ago. The colour was amazing, i wish i knew what it was!

OK i tracked down the Fiat 600 hybrid i saw on the road. It looked amazing!

20 years old, 130k miles..... Looks like they have been a hard 130k.

two new tires, rears are likely not far behind.
If one shock is leaking, its likely the other side is shot or very nearly.
probably wants new bushings throughout the suspension No mention of the rear beam rusting but I would bet its probably on its way at that age.
Spend another 250 - 500 to get it through its MOT only for the clutch to go, or the cambelt snap.

Even roadworthy its probably not worth more than £500. Not only that but its not old enough to be considered a "classic" or "vintage" not young enough for someone to want to save it. I suspect its destined for the scrap heap.

The answer is to buy it cheap, shove it in the shed and do nothing to it for another 20 years and then "discover" it as a "barn find" probably better than money in the bank.;););)
Maybe, though even then would it really be worth all that much being an old panda of which they’ve made millions. The Italians will still be daily driving these in 20 years time.

Then you have to have the space to store it

But then Minis, Ford Anglias, Escorts, Morris 1000s were all 2 a penny in the past , but because lots of people had one there are still people years later who desire one. Even though they are cra* to drive compared with modern vehicles.
I agree about cost of storage takes the edge off.
All the cars and motorbikes I have owned are now collectible, but at the time they cost peanuts and I often sold them for less than I paid. 1964 MGB Roadster £90, Mk 10 Jag turned down for £80, Amphicar turned down for £65, 1955 Matchless G11 600cc with side car bought for £10 and sold for £20, etc. etc.

I take offence to this, how can you say classic Minis are 💩 to drive compared to modern vehicles…….I thought you had better taste! 😂
We used to joke with the older mini owners on 10inch wheels saying there was a conversation to fit 12 inch wheels.
When asked why we told them "It was to stop Great Dane Dogs pi**ing in their windows"!

I like that. Most of the Mini’s I bought (and i had a few) were still on 10’s with drums all round which didn’t really cut the mustard when you dropped an MG Metro 1275 in them! Luckily there were plenty of slightly newer Mini’s on 12’s at the local scrapyard.
