Rescue me!

I like that. Most of the Mini’s I bought (and i had a few) were still on 10’s with drums all round which didn’t really cut the mustard when you dropped an MG Metro 1275 in them! Luckily there were plenty of slightly newer Mini’s on 12’s at the local scrapyard.
The driving was OK, it was the concrete suspension I didnt like. Its no wonder all my teeth are loose!

But then Minis, Ford Anglias, Escorts, Morris 1000s were all 2 a penny in the past , but because lots of people had one there are still people years later who desire one. Even though they are cra* to drive compared with modern vehicles.
I agree about cost of storage takes the edge off.
All the cars and motorbikes I have owned are now collectible, but at the time they cost peanuts and I often sold them for less than I paid. 1964 MGB Roadster £90, Mk 10 Jag turned down for £80, Amphicar turned down for £65, 1955 Matchless G11 600cc with side car bought for £10 and sold for £20, etc. etc.
i know what you’re saying, but the more common the car, the longer you need to sit on it for the value to go up.

Also historically there were times you could get some really rare cars for very little money, especially in the 70s with the oil crisis that rendered anything with a bigger engine worthless.

I remember Porsche 964s changing hads for £2-3k the old Lamborghinis such as the espada were essentially worthless. So people put them in the back of a garage and sat on them for years, now they are worth a fortune, but the likes of a Ford Anglia or Morris minor are not worthless but they’re not worth a lot. The Panda is going to likely be the same

I never valued Mk1 Ford Escorts, but now quite high prices. I even had a customer give me his 1300GXL still in good order, regularly serviced by me, just insulted by Dealer Part ex price, so sooner let me have it, I had similar with a Mk2 Ford Fiesta 1.3 Ghia CVH.:)
