About to replace the radiator on the girlfriends Cinq....any tips ??

Is it a bumper off job or will it all come out easily from behind ??

I know I need some jubilee clips to replace the factory fited ones when I cut them off but anything else ??? :)

Yeah def a bumper off job, makes life so much easier for wokring. You will also need some new anti freeze/water. Best advice i can give is to take ur time and be careful; remmeber where everything went as u take it off etc. There is a section in the haynes manual that walks you through it.

Hope this helps

its is kept on my 2 bolts on the passenger side and 2 bolts on the drivers side, all which can be found my removing the arch liners. There is also 2 on top of the bumper, close to where the bonnet catch is. If you open the bonnet and then have a look behind the bit of plastic that runs along the top of the bumper bewteen the headlights then you should see another 2. Once all these are undone then the bumper will slide off eaisly with care.

hope this helps

you don't have to take the bumper off, just lift the car high enough and climb under.

i swapped my rad without removing the bumper. i cant remember how many or where the bolts are, but its all in haynes and very easy to do

while u have the rad off, may as well replace the fan switch - its a £8 part and they're prone to failure, and hard/impossible to remove with the rad in situ

If I had access to pair of ramps where I'm going to be working then would leave the bumper on but as I haven't then its coming off !1

Fans switch works fine so that will be transferred !!! :)

i took the rad off my old abarth just yesterday mornin! u can do it without takin the bumper off but it becomes 200% easier if u do.

basically there are 2 pipes running to the right of the rad, both with jubilee clips that need to com out, when u do the bottom one b aware that the coolant will com out if u hadnt already drained it!

there is also a little pug in the middle of them that needs to com out as well, just give it a pull!

next u need to pop the bonnet an have a look down in front of manifold, there are 2 bolts (10mm i think) that support the right hand side of the rad that need to com off.

then u need to disconnect the fan motor switch it is behind the fan under the drivers wheel arch (u may been to take arch liner out, mine were already out so aint 100% sure)

then it should slide down and to the right if u are lookin from the front of the car, however it wont com all the way out, there are 2 cable ties that u need to cut, and behind the drivers headlight there is another little pipe with a cross headed plug on it, unscrew the plug, with a little fiddling the rad should just slide out.

much much easier with the bumper off as u can c the whole rad an the area u are workin on!

If your doing it without taking the bumper off (i.e sitting directly under the car) make sure you wear some goggles cus the amount of sh*t that fell off mine when i did it was massive. The bumper can be an arse to get off, and be careful not to thread the bolts in the wings
