Hi all,
Another thread about the dreaded ECU..
I have a '99 Punto 16v 85. A while ago I had an intemmitent fault where occassionally the injector light came on an the car seemed to be running on just 2 or 3 cylinders - i.e. it sounded like a beetle and had no guts whatsoever. There was also a slight smell of petrol.
An 'expert' told me that the injectors had failed I was just about to fork out on a set + fuel bar thing when I stumbled across this forum.
I'm now - after reader more tales of woe - that it is the ECU that is faulty so have obtained a replacement from a breaker.
Of course now the replacement needs reprogramming / deactivating so I can fit it.
I'm not worried about having the immobilizer working - the car is not worth a great deal of money - I just want to be able to drive the thing..
I have all the keys and the code card for the original ECU.
Someboby please tell me that this is fairly easy and not going to cost me more than the car is worth. i.e. not very much...
Thanks:bang:
