How difficult is it to remove the starter on a 1.4SX Bravo.

Just had clutch replaced and have the starter screech on cold startup - which I understand is caused by excessive clutch dust in the starter.

Are there any problems in gaining access to the starter, or problems in refitting re belt tensions etc?

any advise?

Easy

Its very easy, but you need to work from under the car. The hardest bit is dewiring the critter, but thats just time consuming and make a note of which wire goes where. Then I beleive there are 3 bolts on the 1.4 and the unit pulls out.

Its one of those jobs that is easier in the flesh than it is on paper.

If you need step by step let me know and I will try and remember the details, but it really is straightforward - you dont need to take the wheels off!

Now on a 1.8.........

I suggest keeping an eye one the tightness of the main
cable as well. A few people have reported burnt out soleniods after this job. Mine did as well

What job are you refering to? removal of the starter or replacement of the clutch?

Can the starter usually be salvaged by a clean from this problem? or is a replacement the way to go?
