General removing middle box, pass or fail mot??

hi guys still not sure,
i have a peco back box and sounds good at idle,, now if i was to remove the middle silencer and replace with a pipe would it fail mot on emissions? i got a mixed answer last time. this is for a fiat punto s mk1.

I got mine cut out when i fitted my custom cat bac. Took the punto to the garage yesterday to get a service and i asked about the exhaust, and he said it will pass fine. He said all of the emmisions is dependant on the cat.
All my friends have full systems without silencers, and none of them have failed either. If you're getting mixed answers and dont know who to believe, then go to ur local garage, and just say "my mot's due soon, would it fail for having no silencer?"
As long as their is no air leaks, then there aint a problem

It's a very grey answer, but if the exhaust is 'significantly' louder than a standard exhaust in good condition then it will fail. They don't use a decibel meter or anything, it's a judgement call.

And before anyone says this isn't the case, it is - mine failed back in November. It was ridicuolusly loud though...

taking the middle box out of an otherwise standard car will not make it fail an mot. if the rest of the exhaust is silly loud, it stands a chance that it will fail yes.

mines loud and the mot station never failed me and he new it was loud but ya car is louder when rolling/ getng driven. mine just burbles very nicely

You can still fail on noise. it all depends on your testing station. Juding by the rest of your car they may take a dislike to you and fail it as they tend to do with boy raced ricer wagons.

Also why you got the Abarth badge on a 60hp punto s?

this a peco big bore 2 but only got a 3" tail. my m8 had it on his mini and it was stupidly loud, im getting the silencer removed on friday so should be good!
yeah the badge was a spur of the moment thing lol! the abarth badge was on it when i bought the car and is glued down well! x

Well i guess we all have spur of the moments. lol. My advice would be, to take all the badges off, including the original fiat and punto ones. You got a vid to show how loud it is?

no it wont. It looks great when its sorted , just make sure you do ur homework before attempting it. Or, save up the couple of pound, and if u dont think you can do it urself, pay a pro to do it for you
