Technical removing front suspension (mk2)

i'm trying to remove the front suspension as i have a snapped spring but the garage that fitted the springs has rounded off the allen key part so i can't undo the top nyloc nut,
any ideas on what to use,

i'd personally get a slim 4" grinding disc on it a cut a groove into the top so you can use a big flat head screwdriver to stop it turning as you undo the nut.

i thought about cutting the nut off.
i won't be going back to the garage as they didn't tighten the other side properly.

mole grips on the strut? gonna have to be fookin' tight though...

I think dave probably has the best idea. An impact air wrench loosened mine off in next to no time.

However, you are not supposed to let the piston spin in the housing. I was replacing the damper anyway, so this did not matter. If you use an impact gun, consider replacing the damper too, or test it very thoroughly after installation.

it took half a can of wd40 lots of swearing, hammering and grinding
so the car is now off the road untill the new spring arrives

We did this at the weekend on a Mondeo strut, clamp them down uber tight and it should come off quite easily
