I need to withdraw this front engine mount completely - to allow the engine to move forward enough to drop out clear of the subframe. The Porter manual agrees, but does not say how they removed it - as there is not enough lateral clearance to get the clasp part (in the pic) off the gearbox.

Is this mount in 2 parts? Is the bolt (bottom left) supposed to allow the clasp part to be detach from the turret part? It might be a daft question, but this bolt will not undo even with a 2 foot bar......

Hi Jonti,
You have come accross another tipo pitfall !!!!,
Easyier to undo the three 15mm bolts which secure the mount to the chassis, When doing this make sure the engine is supported with something so it don't drop when the last bolt is removed......

dazzo..

Even with those 3 bolts off - on the diseasal - the problem is that the turret part of the mount has no clearance due to the intercooler and prevents the complete unit being pulled off the gearbox ! Total pain. As you say, the main screw in the turret was never-ever going to come out ! However, the new unit can go back in two pieces as it won't be jammed solid.

Gearbox is supported, the next job - attach hoist - the other 2 mounts look easy in comparison! :yum:
