Right - sick and tired of searching now, been looking for a good half hour straight and can't find my answer...

Yesterday I attached a line converter to RCA, ran my power, remote and RCA cables through - no problem.

However, I haven't yet connected my remote lead up - I've been looking for a AUT-ANT wire but can't find it for the life of me - is it on all factory head units? I've read you can cut in to the cig lighter 12v and earth, but is this really necessary?

Can somebody point out which is the auto antenna cable from this pic?

I also need an earth near the head unit for the line to RCA converter, is there an earth cable on the head unit?

And one last thing! Earth for amp in my boot, what do you lot do, sand down the area around a seat belt bolt, will this be ok?

Thanks, big thumps up to you if you can help me ASAP :slayer:

Ignore me I found the remote - it was the grey cable from the head unit loom.

The up facing switch (on the 2nd line) on the head unit diagram I posted.

Because it wasnt getting a good enough ground in the footwell and i couldnt be arsed to drill another hole so i took the trim off, took the latch off sanded it down and ground it there which has = no more cutting out sub.

Ah you meant the the line converter not the amp.
Wouldnt it have been easier just to earth to the same point as the amp. There will be no problem with earthing the converter where you did though so its a trivial question really.
Im also surprised that you got better results earthing further away from the unit (assuming that the converter is up front and thats why you chose the foot well in the first place). If all is assumed right then it is another case of ICE not having rules set in stone. It doesnt matter how much you can try and learn things theoretically a vast majority is just throwing the rules out of the window and use trial and error.

Sorry ignore me half asleep and at work when i typed that. First off i had my amp grounded in the spare tyre well like normal. It was getting a crap contact even when bolted down securely which caused my sub to cut out so i moved it to the rear boot latch where is has alot better ground and now my sub doesnt cut out.

I grounded to the bolt which the seat belt holder uses which is pretty much in the middle of the boot.
