Thinking of fitting remote central locking to my bravo. Anyone wanna walk me through it? is it a particularly difficult or expensive thing to do yourself and would it be better to just go get it done at a garage? if so anyone got any idea of what its gonna cost me.

Any help is greatfully accepted

its pretty easy!!

I did it to mine about six months ago , i got the kit off ebay for £40 and did it in about 2 hours.
youve basically got a live atc and switch wires to open and lock you dont even have to take the door card out, if memory serves its negative impulse and the switch wires are blue and white but a can verify this for defonate if you need it.
if youve got any questions just email me :[email protected]

Re: Re: Remote locking

so do i need both of those things from maplin for just the second one? excuse me if i ask saft questions as car electrical is not my stongest point.

Re: Re: Re: Remote locking

Just one...

You can get either, but the first one is much harder to install...

The second one is recommended...

Re: its pretty easy!!

if you dont have to remove door cards or anything where does it all plug in to?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Remote locking

I (and a good few other on here) got my kit from a company called PVSS.
£40 for a simple kit (with one key fob) that takes about 5 seconds to install! (The same kit is £70 from Fiat with two keyfobs)

Problem is I can't remember the Website! Any searches I do bring up the url http://fp.pvss.f9.co.uk, which rings a bell but it doesn't seem to work at the mo. They could be this company:
Protected Vehicle Security Systems 01603 423415
Anybody else shed light on this?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Remote locking

where exactley does everything plug in? and how does it work if you dont have to remove the door cards?

door cards

trace the wiring loom in the foot well that goes into the doors and put a tester on the white and blue you know when youve got it right cause when you pear off a little of the insulation and test the bear wire the central locking activates just find the ones that lock and unlock as for the other wires youl just have a live, earth and maybelike mine a flashing light etc! hope this helps....justin
the kit i got was for the total closure and it hat two fobs..........justin b

Re: door cards

Get the yellow relay job, a much tidier solution. But don't let Fiat charge you for fitting it ;)

Re: Re: door cards

I take it you've already got central locking, you just want remote central locking.

I think we're getting our wires crossed!!

If your car already has central locking, then all you do is pull out the central locking relay behind the glove box and plug in a new one that contains the remote receiver.

If not, then you'll have to get an aftremarket central locking kit, (from maplins etc) and it gets a lot more complicated.

Go to Fiat ........

If you want more than one plip key (electronic sender) go to Fiat not PVSS - they only give you one and will charge you over 30 quid for an extra one. I bought the PVSS kit and sent it back rather than pay more than the Fiat version. The yellow relays look the same but the Fiat plip keys feel much better quality. Of course if you only need one plip key then PVSS is cheaper...
Fitting is really easy - the hardest bit is making sure that the lugs on the left hand side of the glovebox are disengaged!
Go for it.

Re: Go to Fiat ........

yeah i aready have central locking, just wanna have it on remote cos im lazy like that.... so its simple a case of pulling out one thing a replacing it with another, a kind of plug and play? no stripping wires and stuff like a couple of peeps have suggested cos from experience me and electrical wiring do not neccesarily go together. off to go find the relay under my dash.

Re: Re: Go to Fiat ........

just took a look under the glovebox (incidentellay, a 6'4 guy trying to controt himslef under his glovebox is a very strange sight to the neighbours....even in the midalnds).
Only yellow things i can see is a thickish yellow wire and two thinner wirces that go into a wiring socket thingy that has bits of purple on it......

realise this is pretty vauge so im gonna go see if i can take a pic.

How do you get up there to actually change the relay? does the dash have to come off? iff so how do i do this? I have a passenger Airbag fitted if that makes any difference to anything.

Re: Re: Re: Go to Fiat ........

only just realised there is a Full closure thread running alongside this one. Great mids thinking alike and all that! Could i simply combine the two ideas. fit the remote locking system from Fiat then buy the electric window interface from maplin so that all the windows will close when i press the remote?

Also just took another look under the dash and think i can see where the relay is so what i need to know now is how does my glovebox come out/off?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Go to Fiat ........

Depending on what model you have...

The HGT (and probably HLX)
Open the glove box, turn the two little handles and remove the top half...

There are two 10mm (or 8mm) bolts at the back, and a few phillips screws...

pull out glovebox...:)

It's pretty easy, when you get into it...

Re: Re: Re: Remote locking
