General remote key issue

Hi, my blue remote key's batteries needed changing. I took it apart and noticed that the battery contact seemed dirty, so I got a cotton bud and some tape head cleaner (alcohol), and now the remote won't work at all, the LED on the key doesn't light up, even with new batteries.

I'm baffled as to how this bit of cleaning should bugger up the remote. The key itself is ok, i can still lock and drive the car ok. Any ideas?

the switch is often snapped off when the key is put back together, check all 4 of its soldered contacts.

also make sure you have put the battery back in the right way round.

finally check the earth connection in the corner, it can get dirty and sometimes it needs to be bent slightly so it touches the side of the battery again.
