The range of my remote seems to be dropping. When I first got it, it would work from 5 or so metres, now I have to get within 2-3 metres.

There has been some research done on the interaction of radio waves and the skull. It proves that if you are looking at the car when you hold the key to your head it works from further away.

Apparently the radio waves penetrate the skull and bounce around inside. The skull acts like a wave guide and focuses the beam through the eye sockets. The bigger the void in the skull the better it works.
