Technical Remote central Locking reciever

Hi Peeps, I have had my remote central locking stop on my Mk1 98 1.2 sporting and Fiat has quoted me about £360 to fix, are there any aftermarket repair equipments I can buy for less money? I've seen some somewhere in this Forum but can't locate now.

What exactly is broken?? Mine stopped working once and it was the button on the key not working, car was fine. Swapped to my spare key and everything was tickety-boo.

Hi, the key is fine, but the infrared receiver module is broken.

the main problem I've got is the previous owners have lost the tag on the red key, a four digit code for the remote central locking and key re porgramming. Even Fiat Italy has no record of the number needed. So I am stuffed by getting Fiat main dealer to fix. No code no replacement with existing tech.... so having seen some of these cars have had different manufactured remotes fitted, it should be an easy fitting of a new receiver and sender not from the existing key remote.

You can buy a universal remote central locking unit with fob on eBay.wire that into it and it will replace the old one have you a pic of key see if it is same as I had

Thanks its a blue one obviously with the small button on its short side How can I post a pic to you? In the mean time I'll look into the ebay senario and thank you very much for replying.

simply remove your relay in top of glove box and fit that 1
