I'm looking to buy a 500 but am struggling with what engine to get. I found the 1.2 slow, the 1.4 only a bit faster that the 1.2 (even with the sport button on) and the diesel the inbetween, but had a nice bit of torque. The diesel with a remapped would make the most sense all round.

Can remapped diesel owners tell me what MPG's you are getting?
What BHP do you have now?

i had mine done by a company called veil tuning in northampton and its tuv'd so its a full remap and even tho' i do not see and difference in fueling use but no lag better throttle response and over all a better car to drive (y)
p.m me for details if required , i have no gain by this as i was just a customer so just recommending them not advertising any services (y)

Before i bought my 500 i drove all tthree engine versions.
First of all (in my opinion) a petrol engine suite a small car like 500 much better than a diesel. Second, 1.4 is quite a bit faster and more powerful than 1.2. Push the throttle down (in 2nd or 3rd) at 4.000 rpm and you'll see.
Today on my way to work i tried to get it to rev limiter, but I couldn't (got scared really), went to around 7,200 rpm then shift it to 3rd.....
+ there is a factor of sound.......pertol (y) vs diesel (n).....
