Had mine on a rolling road yesterday at a small independant tuning garage in halifax. This guy prides himself on his rollers being spot on, showing boost, fueling timing etc. Has a garage FULL of race prep cars and his own race team cars etc. I was there with alot of high powered cars and they were getting near enough bang on to what they expected with the odd few pushing really good figures as standard. Red-dot's rollers showed 189bhp. Yesterday it showed 173bhp. Now I no theres a few variables but....?

On the plus side he ensured me the remap was perfect for my car, fueling etc all set up spot on and that its pritty much what he would of done if he did it...

Which was a big relief as I bet its not just me who worries what could happen now and then. So outcome is true lower figures, but piece of mind. How many others have been on independant rollers after red-dot remap? Now the lads at red-dot are a good bunch etc and I can understand companies docking figures slightly to sell products etc but I cant help but think thats abit of a **** take?

ive never known anyone get the same results on different rolling roads!

when i was at red dot a golf rolling roaded about 15bhp less just a few weeks after the remap

No I understand that each set of rollers are different. But 189-173?

I can understand big differences in higher powered cars. But 189bhp isnt alot of power. And this difference is nearly 10% of the total power from red-dot.

are they both flywheel figures?

Mines quoted by red dot at fly at 186.6bhp but at the wheels then the 170 figure would make more sence.

A few of us (Adam, Simon, Myself) who have Red Dot maps are going to have an RR run in mid January so we can all report back the differences then.

Weather, Fuel quality, accuracy of road etc will all play a part and possibly give you a lower figure than the Red Dot road, but can you say your not happy with the increase for the price.

iv always said red dot rollers over read...

my old punto got 128 on red dot's but only 107 on dyno dynamics rollers.

also i believe someone who i was with (grande 1.9 sporting) went from 158 to 173 from dyno dynamics to red dots.

and also btw- as soon as i saw the title of the thread i thought this is about red dots rollers over reading! lol

Yer there both flywheels figures.

And like I said Im very happy and relieved with the remap setup. When Im showed the car is set up perfectly and it was a freezing cold morning with the worlds biggest fan setup, using the exact same fuel i always use, I cant see figures fluctuating that much. My car performs fantastically when I want it too and it was the best £200 ive ever spent. But i would of rather been told it was closer to 170 than 190, like im sure every other person would have.

Oh and these rollers were dyno dynamics rollers too. Im up for the next rolling road day count me in.

and does no one thinks its wierd that red dots rollers always say standard cars have higher bhp than what they are quoted? all other rollers iv used have been about the same.

ie standard punto gt got 136.6 bhp on the dyno dynamics.

and they are quoted 136.

Alot of people say the dyno dynamics rollers are the most accurate (upsetting for some people haha) but thats what you want at the end of the day.

And yeah I had it RR'd twice before remap. One was very close to fiats standard rating of 130bhp which i was happy with and red dots was 136 i think

we always say its not the before and after reading that is important but the gains, so instead of talking peak power people whould talk in whats gained between the before and after readings.
no rr can give a true peek reading only an engine dyno can do that all rr are only calcuated.

with some rr with a iat probe just putting the probe in the wrong place can change a reading quite a lot

Dave, all i am stating is the large difference in the margins of peak power between red-dot and the 1st other RR since. Yes i am VERY happy with my car, it drives like a dream and the differences from standard are top notch. BUT.. you cant protect a 16bhp difference with no changes whatso ever, apart from a majorly colder day, and a better rolling road setup.
