General Remap for 09 Qubo

Never to old to learn........I've never had a 'flat' spot on any diesel, thought they only applied to carb fed petrol engines..............will watch with interest for other answers.

Cheers Qube O.

Hi all

Anybody had a remap on a Qubo 1.3 diesel 09 plate, any thoughts to a remap or tuning box, wife wants a bit more go in the Qubo has a slight flat spot when pulling out from junctions.

Many thanks

Robert

I read with interest about Luigi's addition to his Fiorino using a box under the bonnet to give more oomph. I was watching a couple on eBay until I got my Fiorino. It has a Dualogic (or 'Comfortmatic' on mine - cuh..) gearbox. Taking off from lights it changes into 2nd way too quickly and you can find that the boy racer you're stepping out in front of can t-bone you before you've got away but put it into manual shift and you can leave most other cars in your dust-cloud without any assistance from a gizmo box, just using your right foot and left hand ;)

Re-map? Expensive. Drive right - does the biz.

R-V-M

Happen I agree with R-V-M, no problem with mine, though as he said, it pulls away more quickly if you input the gear changes, as per allowing the auto to do it for you.

Most times I leave it to the auto system to change gears, just on occasions on fast junctions I select manual and do it myself.............it makes a real difference.

I have a 60 plate Qubo 1.3 MJTD manual which I had professionally re-mapped after my ECU rejected the eBay Italian plug-in box and put the engine into limp-home mode. The engine now has more torque at low revs so you can get into high gears sooner, with less changing down when climbing hills. You don't need as much "right foot" so economy is improved (50.7 mpg at an average speed of 20 mph over 19000 miles, mostly around town) and the engine seems less stressed. There's more power available if you need it and acceleration seems faster than before (although it is a little more smokey on full throttle). I'm pleased with the results of the remap and have no regrets.

Bear in mind the original factory settings are based on a balance of emissions, economy and reliability to survive the Fiat (very limited) warranty. Remapping will allow you to improve all-round performance without affecting reliability, provided you don't abuse the extra power!

With regards to the tuning box i've fitted to my fiorino, with no disrespect to ecu remaps ect.
I've had one on my van now for about a year now with no issues.
I did have a flat spot when pulling away if you catch the revs wrong, this has gone
average mpg is at worst 52
much smoother response
power band is around 2 to 3000 revs
A little black smoke if revved hard to 4000 revs
Passed mot with no issues
The power increase was evident on the first run after fitting the tuning box.
My tuning box has three switch settings at present it's a number one. which is for power and economy,i think i'll go to number two soon and see what happends
The tuning box is from CHIP EXPRESS made and based in the uk
Go onto there web site and check them out.

It's not really a flat spot like we used to get in the olden days when petrol cars had carbs Qube O! :D It's the delay in the turbo kicking in (lag) which can be a bit disconcerting as you wait for it to wind up (as Robert's wife found out - that's why she wants a bit more go in the Qubo!). We're only talking a second or so and you do get used to it. Remapping or the use of a good quality tuning box like Luigi's can increase torque and power at lower revs and improve acceleration, but at the cost of economy if you're heavy with the right foot.
