When do you get your registration number ..im expecting my new car this week or next and untill i get that number im unable to sort out any insurance.

Don't worry Koss, you'll get 7 days free insurance through AVIVA from the moment you get the car. This gives you plenty of time to get quotes from your current and other insurance companies.
Just don't make a claim. Aviva are pants in my opinion and in the opinion of everyone to whom I have ever spoken about them.

My dealer gave me the reg number a week before the car arrived at the dealers and I had to sign a form checking the details.
so get your quotes done and then wait for the dealer to give you the reg. but tell them you want the week free insurance so they can sort that out it makes it a lot easier.

and that is if they insure you at all, i had 3 points for a CU80 driving whilst using the phone and they refused
you can set up your insurance the day you get the car anyway, i got mine for £200 with swiftcover and you print off your insurance certificate so you dont have to wait for anything in the post

agreed that Aviva are rubbish, nevertheless it was useful when, whilst buying a panda, our dealers needed an insurance certificate to tax the car prior to our picking it up. Our preferred insurer couldn't deliver the certificate in time so we insured with avaiva on the free 7 day, dealer got the tax disc then we cancelled insurance. Had our cover the next day when we collected the car.
