My newly purchased Regatta is working quite well. However, the fuel consumption is probably too high, and the idle is above 1000 rpm even when completely warm. The fuel consumption is ~12 liter/100 km (mixed city and normal roads), when according to the book city driving only should result in something like 90 liter/100 km.

I have changed oil + filter, air filter, spark plugs, gearbox oil, distributor cap and rotor. The engine starts up nicely regardless of temperature, but idles around 2000 rpm if it is cold outside. I have checked the vacuum hoses and they appear to be ok.

If I accelerate moderately from ~1200 rpm there is a significant "dip" between 1800 and 2200 rpm, where it feels like the engine "chokes".

What's left to check/change is water and air temperature sensors, map sensor and lambda. The SPI lamp works but is not lit during driving.

I'd appreciate any help!

Hi there mate. My new Regata auto 85s has exactly the same problem. The idling never goes below 100rpm. The speedo also doesnt work on my car. No idea how to fix it? Help....

The idle speed was fixed by adjusting the throttle cable (more slack) and mounting a different idle control valve. The idle is now fairly allright, just below 1000 rpm. If you have problems finding a replacement idle control valve, try to clean the one you have. Don't try to remove the small "rod" (you will see when you have removed it), as you will probably only ruin it. That's what I did with mine. Instead just clean it and possibly spray some WD40 on the moving part.

The fuel consumption is still pretty high, unfortunately.
