By the way, the heat shield is off. I'll let you know if I get any third degree burns.

any chance you could take some pics of the heat shield showing the mounting points as i think mine is starting to rattle and it would be nice to have some idea before i start crawling under the car?

Unfortunately, I don't have a digital camera, otherwise I would. The central mounting point is right above the middle of teh back box and no amount of contortionism will allow me to get a self tapper into the circular "mounting" hole. As the screw has rotted along with the mount, I have used two self tappers either side to secure the said shield.

Regretably, I will not be suffering any burns, for those of you who hoped I would.
