To get a new red key means getting a new locking system and immobiliser ecu, which is why FIAT make such a song and dance about keeping them safe and why you should never buy a 2nd hand FIAT without one.

This surely only becomes an issue, if you loose your other keys too though!??
If the ECU goes on the blink, could they re-sode it from the red key? Or is it simply a case then of footing bill for new ECU then regardless?
