Technical Recurring heater fan problems

Hi all, first post on here, so please bear with me

Mk1 punto cabrio 1.2 16v without air con

I've now put in around 4 heater fan resistors now, and after a few days to a couple of weeks they blow! Any ideas? It's driving me round the bend. Still only have 4th speed.

electrics aren't my strong point, should be someone along soon thats got some idea.

The fan motor is likely to be the problem but water can get on to the resistors; suggest replace everything but you could try spraying some sealant over the resistors or covering with plastic....
