best thing i ever did ,get a auto mine is 2.2td toyota lusida [import] flick in D and go i toe caravans to &from trls full of sh@@ my boy goes triles riding with 2 bikes on a trl only problem i have is pads 70/80000 box is as smooth as silk as is shaft &diff.my bruv has privia not import with230000 mls m reg using as carpet fitting van and still smooth changes.[and yes wee are old 47and46 .go 4 a auto you wont regret it

Autos are fab, manuals can be fun dont get me wrong, but its an outdated technology, I mean a part specifically designed to provide drive through friction and consquent wear is so antiquated, fluid drive is what its all about, plus how much "real" driving can you do in a 30 zone or stuck on the M6 north all day.

Too true. Great in traffic where lets face it we spend most of our time And if you still don't believe an automatic can be fast.... well get yourself to see some muscle car action at Santa Pod :yum:

ive shown him your previous post, which was followed by some further research into the car like reviews etc. still seems pretty keen.

03 reg with 40k on the clock and all the toys for 5.5k seems fair

sorry to bring up an old post, but we also have a 2.2TD lucida import, and its the slowest thing i have ever been in. it might be something to do with it being 4x4, but you have to rev the nuts off it to actually go anywhere, and economy is poor as well. Overtaking? doesnt happen.

maybe your gearbox is in better nick, dunno

anyway, not a car that would persuade me in favour of autos...

how about a 407 coupe diesel V6 auto
or if finances dont stretch that far, the 406 coupe 2.2 HDi...

(sorry, just suggesting my current fantasy car upgrade lol)

EDIT: bummer, car already bought well how about one of these when he gets bored of the rover

well he has the car.

i didnt expect much but it's amazing and i love it!

really smooth, very quick compared to the audi.

highest spec, get stuff like cd changer, heated leather seats, all round electric windows, electric rear blind, cruise control etc.

i haven't noticed this, done a couple of hundered miles in it, its in a different league to the audi

Perhaps it's different on the CDTI than the 2.5 V6.

yeh i was thinking diesel gboxes might be different, no complaints from my dad yet.

goes without saying remapping is being looked into aswell.
