rear wiper..... help?

i've just bought a 97 1.4 brava s, very impressed with the car throughout, however the rear wiper isn't working. i'm lead to believe this is a common fault. does anyone know if there is a common repair for this? not wanting to send it to the garage quite yet.

It is indeed a common fault, check the boot connectors for grime and spray them with WD40.

Failing that it's £20 from the breakers or about £75 from the dealers.

yes ours was gone too when we bought it. The garage told us it has burned out. Don't really need it though. Rear window heater also burned out due to a shiort in the switch which you can access on the edge of the boot. Check connections are not burned out.

A common cause of these motors not working, is the screen wash pipe tends to come off, and then most of the wash gets squirted onto the wiper motor shaft, causing it to seize, if you are confident and competent these motors can easily be stripped down and the shaft freed up..
