Hello, all. I've got some intermittent "clunking" coming from the o/s rear area of my 2011 Trekking. I've changed shocks and bump stops and the springs are intact. While i had the springs off, I swivelled the beam up n down reasonably vigorously. Bit of squeaking but no clunk. The bushes have 110000 moles on them and look "tired" Has anyone replaced the bushes? Can it be done by just lowering the "front" section of the beam?
I'm gonna check the fuel tank fittings as well as its the only other thing in that area that could be the culprit. I've already removed the rear exhaust heat shield and will tidy that up.

So....
I've removed all the heatshield - minimal improvement. Removed o/s wheel arch protector - nothing loose anywhere. Obviously I've emptied the boot of anything that could make the slightest noise including that apology of a parcel shelf. Fiddled about with exhaust to make sure it was impossible it could be hitting anything. The fuel tank is firmly attached.
However, when I checked the tank it was close to empty and it makes a noise like a big drum. I wonder.... could the empty tank be amplifying sound to give this noise? I'll fill up n see if the "noise" disappears. Of course, like an intermittent misfire, I'm always waiting expectantly on this bloody "clunk" VERY infuriating.
My new rear bushes have arrived but one was damaged in transit!
