I've posted this in answer to another thread, but I think it's worth repeating.

This page has lots of useful tyre information, and a calculator for working out your rolling radius. This means you can pick tyres that match your speedo, if you're fitting larger alloys/tyres.

Don't forget, if a tyre is, say, 205/55, the 55 is the height of the sidewall AS A PERCENTAGE of the tyre width (205mm), i.e. the tyre height is 55% of 205mm, NOT 55mm.

Standard size

Does anyone know the standard tyre size for the 1.2 80sx?

Diiferent tyres were on the vehicle when I bought it. This may explain the silly speeds on my speedo *see 'Engine Mods' topic*

FAO Dug - RE: tyre height

Dug,
i haven't yet looked at the link you added, but i can't help thinking that there is something wrong with your last statement. 55% of 205mm is 112mm! Are you then supposed to divide by two? That would give 56mm. I always used to think that the 55 stood for 55mm.

Re: FAO Dug - RE: tyre height

Gcol,

I'm absolutely certain: the sidewall height is given as a percentage of the overall width. This means a 205/55 tyre has taller sidewalls than a 185/55 tyre, for instance.
