Ok previously i wrote about my engine knocking as you tap your foot on the accelerator to give it a jolt of power, i have since turn the radio down and done the same and reveiled a clunching sort of noise as you do it.

how i get the car to make the noise:-
1) put the car in a low gear like 2nd.
2) get in to over 2500rpm
3) then quickly let your foot off the accelerator and tap it back down again quickly, to make the car jolt and you sort of hear a knocking noise and can feel the knock through the gear stick.

Any ideas>??

cheers

Any ideas.......hmmmm......Yeah

DON'T DO IT!

most cars will do it, as you take your foot off the gas you unload the transmission, step on gas, load it back up. The clunk is the slack being taken up.

Not knowing too much about these things but... there is usually some sort off cush drive (called that on bikes anyway) to soften the blow, normally on the clutch, maybe in gearbox....perhaps yours needs replacing?

Clutch Cush?

If the clutch was going would that make it worst do you think as my clutch has done 60000 and prob needs replacing anyway as it is really juddery when cold.

Clutch Cush?

Same thing happens as I first listed when you tkae your foot off the gas sharply. Is that the same thing?

Cheers

Re: Clutch Cush?

depends how loud the clunk is.

Can't say I've ever "heard" mine clunk, but if I have my hand on the gearstick I can feel the clunk.

Fuel injected cars are generally really snatchy when you take your foot off the gas then re-apply it.

I'm sure one of the experts on here will come along soon and give you a better answer.
