Basically I was driving along the other day with the windows down and no stereo on.....very odd for me!

I noticed an extremly annoying rattle coming from the under side of the car. Don't quite know where it is coming from or how to find out.

Everyone that I have spoken to say's it is very likely to be the rear silencer but i have shaken that and it does seem to make the same noise.

Can anyone offer any assistance as to how to locate where this is coming from either in the exhaust system or somewhere else.

IT'S REALLY STARTING TO GET ON MY TIT'S

Cheers Al

I get a slight rattle from the heatshield above the exhaust i presume its above the catalitic converter, but if i rev the car when im not moving theres a slight rattle from under the car

I have tried to check the heatshield as best I can and the car doesn't seem to make the noise when it's stationary but when your moving it's loud and clear.

How loud are we talking here, to be honest im not to technically minded with moving bits on cars, but your cat may have fallen to pieces, literally. Where does it seem to be coming from?

How fast do you have to go before it starts?

Not very fast it's more as you go over bumps - if it is the exhaust I hope it's the silencer (£50) rather than the CAT (£200)

Anti roll bar

i have the same problem on my bravo at the moment. i took it to the garage and they said that the anti roll bar link has broken. so i bought some more and the mechanic said that he could weld them onto the anti roll bar, but the roll bar thread is too knackered to do that so now i have to buy a whole anti roll bar which is £110 plus fitting:(

Re: Anti roll bar

Could be the exhaust heat shields, simple remedy get them rewelded, loose mountings for the exhaust, get them checked and replaced if necessary or the CAT, within the cat the ceramics may have come unstuck and the insides are clunking around when you go over bumps. Not an MOT fail just a nuisance if your a prefectionist.

Re: Anti roll bar

Removed some of my heatshields and did make a difference, they had come away from the mounting bolt, so rather than bodge them, i just
removed them!!

Re: Anti roll bar

Heat shields are there for a reason so you should really weld them back on.
